Object Operations

S3 Explorer gives you a straightforward way to upload, edit and organize files inside your buckets. After selecting a bucket from the sidebar, you will see its contents in a tree view. Each object can be right-clicked to reveal context options such as Upload, Download, Rename and Delete. Drag-and-drop also works for uploading files from your local system.

The Inspector panel on the right provides deeper controls when an object is selected:

• Preview/Edit – Open text and image files directly in the browser. For JSON, YAML and Markdown, you can toggle between preview and raw editing modes. Images can be cropped and saved as new files. Click Save to persist your changes.
• Tags – Add or remove object tags just like you do for buckets. Select Add, fill in the key and value fields, then Save.
• Access Control List (ACL) – Adjust permissions for specific users or switch between canned ACLs such as public-read. Remember to Validate before saving.
• Versioning – View previous versions of an object and restore if needed. This tab appears only when versioning is enabled for the bucket.
• Presign – Generate a temporary URL to share the object securely. Choose the expiration time and copy the resulting link.

To rename or move an object, right-click it in the tree and choose Rename or Move. Moving requires selecting the destination bucket and path. Copying works similarly but leaves the original in place.

Bulk operations are easy: hold Shift or Ctrl (Cmd on macOS) while clicking to select multiple items, then pick an action from the context menu. For large deletions or copies, a progress dialog shows status until complete.

The click path for editing any file is: Sidebar → choose bucket → select object → Inspector panel → desired tab (Preview, Tags, ACL, Versioning, Presign). Remember to hit Save whenever you edit content or metadata.
